Model Highlights

The Mercedes-Benz Metris comes in two basic body styles, taking the form of either an 8-seat Passenger Van or a Cargo Van. The Cargo Van eliminates the rear side windows while increasing the maximum payload, while the Passenger Van offers three rows of seating for up to eight people. Both vans are powered by a fuel efficient 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Metris is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds, with a payload of 2,500 pounds. A new, bare-bones Worker trim is considered the base model. As a Cargo Van, it is only available in white, while the Passenger variant can be ordered in silver or black for extra cost. It lacks many creature comforts as well as a seat; the Worker Passenger Van only seats seven. Two packages are available on the Worker Cargo Van: The Convenience Package adds cruise control, heated power mirrors, a better stereo, and a rearview camera, while the Utility Package brings everything above plus cargo straps, integrated roof rails, a blindspot monitor and more. In the Worker Passenger Van, packages include Convenience, Appearance and Comfort. Standard features on the Metris include 17-inch wheels, an Audio5 sound system, a 5.8-inch color screen, a wooden floor for the Cargo Van and sliding doors on both sides for the Passenger Van. The Metris also gets a standard crosswind assist system that helps steady the vehicle while driving in inclement weather, which can normally be a little bit hazardous in taller vehicles such as the Metris. Options on the Metris include a choice of vertical or twin horizontal opening rear doors, power-operated sliding side doors, a navigation system, a multifunction steering wheel and automatic climate control. The Metris is meant to operate in the city and appropriately, Mercedes offers several options that take much of the stress out of driving in the city. An optional start/stop function helps save gas, while parking sensors, a rearview camera, or a full on parking assistant makes parallel parking in even the tightest spots a snap. In addition, the Metris features the tightest turning radius in its class. Safety is aided by standard stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes, while six standard airbags help keep the driver and the passengers safe in the event of a collision. The Passenger Van comes standard with additional airbags for rear seat passengers. Optional safety features include blind spot and lane keeping assist functions, a collision prevention assist system, an alarm and a reverse warning device.
